On September 28th, Volkswagen Group (my country) CEO Feng Sihan stated at the 2020 World New Energy Vehicle Conference that Volkswagen will deepen its electric vehicle industry layout in my country and strengthen cooperation with local battery suppliers. Feng Sihan revealed that by 2024, Volkswagen will join hands with joint venture partners to invest 15 billion euros in my country's electric mobility. At the same time, by the end of this year, it will achieve a national layout of 16 cities, build 255 charging stations and 1,800 charging piles. In the field of power lithium batteries, Volkswagen will strengthen cooperation with domestic local battery suppliers. By 2025, the Volkswagen Group’s annual battery production demand in my country will reach 150GWh. It is known that Volkswagen currently has 6 battery assembly workshops in my country. This year, Volkswagen acquired a 26% stake in battery manufacturer Guoxuan Hi-Tech. In addition, Volkswagen is also seeking other partners, including CATL and A123. On the same day, according to South Korean media reports, in order to obtain a stable battery supply, Tesla is seeking to acquire up to 10% of LG EnergySolution, which will soon be separated from LG Chem. Prior to this, Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited Volkswagen Chairman Herbert Diss in western Germany, and at the time it also sparked discussions in the industry about whether the two companies could become allies. Needless to say, Tesla's position in the global battery industry. Musk revealed in the previous Battery Day that Tesla's short-term goal is to reach 100Gwh of power lithium battery installed capacity by 2022, including energy storage. By 2030, the installed capacity will reach 3000Gwh, and it is planned to process batteries at the Berlin plant in Germany. In the long run, the company will weigh the company's development with Twh (1000Gwh) in the future, and hope that the annual output of batteries will reach 10-20Twh, and the global demand for all batteries will be 150Twh. Volkswagen has been processing cars since 1937 and has some relevant experience in technology. However, some professionals pointed out that the planning of Volkswagen's MEB platform was not detailed enough. And Tesla has established its outstanding position in software and electric vehicle technology. However, Volkswagen's deployment of new energy vehicles in China is speeding up. Some analysts once said that Volkswagen may surpass Tesla in 2022 and become the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer. By then, its electric vehicle sales will exceed 1 million. At present, both Volkswagen and Tesla are seeking their own development in battery processing: Tesla is also preparing to produce its own batteries while maintaining cooperation with Panasonic. Last year, Tesla acquired Maxwell and Hibar, and at the beginning of this year announced the 'RoadRunner' power lithium battery self-produced project. Both LG Chem and CATL are supplying lithium batteries for power. Volkswagen signed a 10-year long-term purchase agreement with Ganfeng Lithium in April last year. It also established an excellent battery trial production center in September last year for fully autonomous battery trial processing. In addition, the ID.3 officially released by Volkswagen in September is directly against the Tesla Model3. On the whole, Volkswagen's critical markets are my country and Europe, while Tesla has deployed in my country, Europe, North America and other locations, and production continues to be released. Regardless of whether the two companies will eventually cooperate, the development of new energy vehicles and batteries is beneficial.
