How far are hydrogen fuel-powered battery cars from us?

How far is the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle? Some automotive engineers always say that hydrogen is a clean fuel, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will become the new favorite of car enthusiasts. However, for now, the popularity of hydrogen fuel-powered battery vehicles is still far away. Hydrogen fuel power battery is zero-emission hydrogen and does not contain carbon. Carbon-based greenhouse gases will not appear during combustion, at least not inside the engine, which is not available in gasoline, diesel, kerosene, natural gas and other hydrocarbon fuels. The advantages of it are also part of its attractiveness as a transportation energy. Even so, if air instead of pure oxygen is used as the oxidant to burn hydrogen, harmful nitrogen oxides will still appear during combustion, which is not essentially different from fossil fuels. In terms of gas hazards, nitrogen oxides are more dangerous than carbon dioxide. During the movement of hydrogen from the positive electrode to the negative electrode, the catalyst extracts electrons from the hydrogen atoms and only allows hydrogen ions (protons) to move to the negative electrode. After the hydrogen ions enter the negative electrode area, they react with oxygen atoms to form water molecules. Those electrons repelled by the proton membrane are transferred to the external circuit. When they move from the positive electrode to the negative electrode, these electrons work for the equipment connected to the circuit (supply power for heaters, motors, headlights, etc.). Since the output voltage of a hydrogen proton membrane exchange battery is less than 1 volt, technicians have to connect several hydrogen proton membrane exchange batteries to form a useful output voltage, making the hydrogen fuel power battery look like sliced u200bu200bbread. The efficiency of hydrogen fuel power cells is three to four times that of internal combustion engines. More importantly, cars that use hydrogen fuel cells are electric cars without heavy batteries. Therefore, this feature of the hydrogen fuel cell solves two important problems of ordinary electric vehicles: limited driving range and long charging time. Hydrogen fuel-powered battery vehicles can travel more than 480 kilometers by filling the fuel tank with hydrogen, and it takes 5 minutes to fill up.
