A major feature of the burning of power lithium batteries is the high temperature. According to the NFPA test, the maximum temperature outside the battery during combustion can reach 283-1090 degrees Celsius, and the temperature inside the battery can reach 577-1121 degrees Celsius. Such a high temperature is enough to ignite the battery module. Other combustible materials inside and in the car caused a bigger fire. 3. Difficulties in extinguishing. Regarding the power lithium-ion battery, most of the combustion reaction occurs inside the battery casing. The battery casing hinders the use of the fire extinguishing agent. In practice, the extinguishing time of the power lithium-ion battery fire often exceeds that of the firefighter. Spontaneous combustion and explosion for a long time Lithium batteries can ignite spontaneously, and then explode due to overheating. Reasons for overheating include electrical short circuit, rapid discharge, overcharging, manufacturing defects, poor design or mechanical damage, etc. Overheating will cause the occurrence of a thermal runaway process, that is, the exothermic reaction inside the battery will cause the internal temperature and pressure of the battery to rise at a rapid rate, thereby wasting energy.
