Prospect analysis of lithium battery recovery and reuse

At present, the number of lithium batteries recalled in my country is far less than the total amount of garbage. The important reasons are as follows: 1) The domestic lithium battery recall channels, systems, and guidelines are not sound, and most of the used batteries, especially digital batteries, have not been recalled; 2) The laws, regulations and supervision of lithium battery recalls need to be improved. Although the subject of the recall is clear, it has not been strictly enforced; 3) Some manufacturers do not recycle due to technical secrets or unobvious economic benefits; 4) Due to cost issues, batteries that have reached the theoretical service life to be scrapped are still recycled in the market. Therefore, the actual total scrap is much lower than the theoretical scrap, resulting in a lower recovery rate. At present, lithium battery recycling can be divided into two aspects: 1) Cascade use (for energy storage or low-speed electric vehicles) batteries that meet the energy attenuation level, such as lithium iron phosphate batteries and ternary material batteries; 2) Disassembly without continuous use For valuable batteries, materials such as nickel, cobalt, manganese, and lithium are recycled, such as digital batteries and some ternary batteries. GGII research shows that in 2018, a total of 2,460 tons of batteries used in cascades were recovered, and 109,300 tons of batteries were recovered and dismantled. According to the analysis of GGII, the development trend of China's lithium battery recycling market in the next few years is as follows: 1) At this stage, the recycling method of lithium batteries will still be dismantling and recycling, and digital batteries will still be the main body of battery recycling; 2) 2020-2022 Years later, as the terminal life of power lithium-ion batteries approaches, the recycling of power lithium-ion batteries will usher in a peak, and the recycling ratio of shopping malls will exceed 20%; 3) With the acceleration of 5G commercial use and the retirement of many lead-acid batteries In the future, the recycled power lithium-ion batteries will quickly join the field of cascading use, which can be expected on the market; 4) At this stage, the relevant supporting policies and battery recycling methods are not perfect, and the production rate of China's lithium battery recycling industry is limited. In the future, with the gradual implementation of relevant policies of various national departments and the increase in the subordinate value of terminal products, some companies will usher in huge surplus space.
