How to maintain lead-acid batteries?

by:Vglory      2021-04-18
Maintenance of lead-acid batteries In order to maintain good performance and extend the service life of batteries, batteries in floating state should be charged and discharged regularly once a month. The performance and service life of the battery depend largely on the usual maintenance. Batteries should be checked and maintained regularly (cleaning, specific gravity measurement, replenishment of distilled water, charging and discharging.), especially to prevent the drop of liquid level and failure to replenish distilled water in time, overdischarge, overcharge, delayed charging after discharge, and long-term undercharge. 1) The density of the electrolyte used by the battery should be between 1.260-1.280. The lower limit density value can be taken in seasons with high temperature, and the upper limit value can be taken in seasons with low temperature. 2) The discharged battery should be recharged in time, and should not be left for more than 12 hours. 3) The batteries charged in series should be of the same model, and the difference in discharge degree between each other should not exceed 15%. 4) The battery temperature should not be too high during the charging process, and measures should be taken to cool down when it is too high. 5) Pay attention to the degree of discharge of the battery during use and prohibit over-discharge. Under normal circumstances, the discharge amount shall not exceed 50% of the rated capacity. The degree of discharge can be determined by the electrolyte density, and the capacity will decrease for every 1% decrease in the electrolyte density. 6%. 6) The height and density of the electrolyte should be checked frequently and adjusted; distilled water should be added to adjust the liquid level due to water evaporation; if the electrolyte is lowered due to splashing of the electrolyte, a sulfuric acid solution with the same density as the electrolyte can be injected ; Under normal circumstances, it can still be adjusted with distilled water. 7) The battery and its surroundings should be kept clean and free of debris. Frequently clean the vent hole of the exhaust plug, and wipe off the surface dust and dirt with a dry cloth. 8) Prevent metal appliances from short-circuiting the electrode column to avoid an explosion causing casualties. 9) There should be good ventilation equipment in the charging room, and it is strictly forbidden to smoke or perform open flame operations in the charging room. 10) Prevent iron, copper and other impurities from falling into the battery. 11) After using for a period of time, batteries with poor capacity, over-discharged batteries, and frequently under-charged batteries should be charged with equalization (charging current should be 1/4 of ordinary charging current) to balance and improve battery performance. 12) If the battery cannot be fully charged and discharged during use, a 20-hour rate check and discharge should be performed every three months to prevent sulfation of the plates and ensure the capacity of the battery.
