Five questions about rechargeable batteries

by:Vglory      2021-04-07
Question 1: Longevity or large capacity? Many people think that the larger the capacity of rechargeable batteries, the better, so they often do not consider their actual needs when buying them, and choose the larger ones. In fact, the cycle life of large-capacity rechargeable batteries is much lower than that of small-capacity batteries. For example, a 1600 mAh rechargeable battery can be cycled for more than 800-1000 times under standard charging conditions; but a 2400 mAh battery can only be cycled for less than 300 times under standard charging! This is why the rechargeable battery feels less and less useful after being used several times. However, large-capacity rechargeable batteries still have their advantages for digital devices that consume large amounts of power such as professional digital cameras and flashes. Question 2: The faster the charging, the shorter the life span? There are many charging products on the market that claim fast charging in 2 hours, fast charging in 1 hour or even in 30 minutes. They have been loved by many consumers, but everything has advantages and disadvantages. In fact, the fast charging technology is at the expense of the cycle life of the rechargeable battery. For example, the 1850 mAh rechargeable battery can be cyclically charged for more than 800-1000 times under the standard state of charge; but if the fast charging method is used, the number of rechargeable cycles It may be less than 200 times. In addition, fast charging will affect the battery's single use time, because fast charging can only overflow about 70%-80% of the battery capacity. For example, a 2000 mAh battery can only be charged with 2 hours of fast charging. Charge to a capacity of 1500 mAh. Therefore, under the existing technical conditions, fish and bear's paws cannot have both. Whether it is fast, time-saving, or longer service life, it depends on your needs. Question 3: The battery can be charged with nine? Many people may know this common sense: if the battery is not fully used up before charging, the battery will remember the current state as the initial capacity, and then use it after charging, the power will only be as much as the newly charged power. This is the characteristic of nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries with memory effect in the past, so they must be fully discharged before charging. However, Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are currently more popular on the market. They have no memory effect and can be charged whenever they want. Question 4: The new battery needs to be overcharged the first time it is charged? There is also a well-known common sense that all new batteries must go through an overcharge process for the first time, charging for more than ten hours to make the battery reach a perfect saturation state. This is the fault of nickel-cadmium batteries. In the past, nickel-cadmium batteries had to go through an overcharge process in order to achieve a more perfect saturation state, which usually took about 12-16 hours. At present, many brands such as Nanfu's rechargeable batteries will automatically stop charging through voltage, time and temperature protection devices after 6-8 hours of overflow. At this time, the battery will be charged for more than 12 hours. The hourly approach has no practical meaning. Question 5: Can't chargers of different brands be mixed? Since each charger has a fixed output current, this output current is set for the battery of its matching capacity and is not suitable for batteries of other capacities. Therefore, if it is mixed, the battery burns out or is prone to occur during the charging process. It is not always possible to overflow with electricity and so on. In addition, if the charger does not have safety protection functions such as intelligent overcharge prevention, it is very likely that the battery will explode due to continuing to charge the battery.
