my country Energy Storage Network News: According to foreign media reports, German specialty chemicals company Lanxess announced that its Tepex continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material has been further developed. The material is characterized by its high flame retardancy. Flammability test (picture source: LANXESS) One of the reasons for the high flame retardancy is that the material has a high fiber content. Therefore, the material has also passed many classic flammability tests for flame-free protection applications. However, for applications such as control cabinet enclosures or high-voltage battery packs for electric vehicles, it is usually necessary to pass the V-0 rating of the UL94 flammability test of the Underwriters Laboratories. Therefore, LANXESS stated that it has developed three new halogen-free flame-retardant Tepex materials, which are equipped with a polyamide 6 matrix. Tepexdynalite102fr-RG600(x)/47% material is reinforced with coarse sand glass fiber. The material can also be arranged in multiple axes to precisely match the load transfer point and load path in the component. The composite material has a wide range of applications, covering high-voltage components of electric vehicle batteries, such as partitions, cover plates, and control unit housings. In contrast, Tepexdynalite102fr-FG290 can be used in the field of electrical and electronic products. Due to its reinforced glass fiber, it can be made into a high-quality surface that is easy to paint. In addition, the material is suitable for small enclosures that comply with the DINEN45545-2 standard 'Railway Applications-Fire Protection Requirements for Railway Vehicles'. Tepexdynalite202fr material is reinforced with carbon fiber, which is suitable for parts that withstand extreme mechanical stress, such as high-strength electronic product housings. In addition, the material can also replace flame-retardant polycarbonate materials with insufficient strength and rigidity. These three structural materials are suitable for various applications, and can also be used for electromagnetic shielding by inserting carbon textiles into composite materials or metal surface coatings. In addition to three new products, LANXESS also supplies halogen-free flame-retardant Tepex materials made of polycarbonate substrates, and most of them have passed UL94V-0 certification.
