The question that has always floated around between RC hobbyists is: Which are better, electric or nitro cars? It has been an active debate ever since there has been more than one type of car. And this debate will likely survive until they are both proven obsolete. Both electrically powered cars and nitro powered cars have their advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on what you are looking for in your car and RC experience. Electric RC Cars- Advantages and Disadvantages Electrical cars have the advantage of ease of use. All they need is a charged battery, remote, and some wheels. Not only is there convenience and ease of use but they are also quiet. The battery doesn't produce much noise compared to a nitro powered car. Plus, there is no need to continue to purchase gas to run your RC vehicle. That makes it cheaper in the long run, especially with the price of gas today, nor do you have to worry about spilling the gas and making a mess. Upgrades are extraordinarily easy to install with an electrical car, it can be as simple as plugging in a better battery or wheels. Along with the fact that you don't have to worry about the more advanced and complicated parts of a nitro engine, few of which will likely come with the car. Nitro RC Cars- Advantages and Disadvantages On the other hand, a nitro car can be the better choice if you are a little more experienced RC driver. They can be harder to operate, but once you know what you are doing, you'll likely find that they perform better. In fact you will find that they are faster, stronger, and tougher. One disadvantage is that you have to be willing to invest a bit more money into this type of car. A nitro powered car can be anywhere from 10-15% more expensive than an electric car. Plus, you will have to continuously invest in gas to run it. Engines for nitro cars are also more complex and require a bit more mechanical know-how. There are more parts that have to be installed properly and the installation may not always be straight forward or obvious. So, the best car for you all depends on your level of expertise, and how much you are willing to invest in it. So the question remains, which car will you choose, nitro or electric?
