Power lithium batteries and energy storage lithium batteries correspond to two application scenarios and markets respectively. They have similarities, but they also have obvious differences. From the perspective of application scenarios, power lithium batteries are mainly used in electric vehicles, electric bicycles and other electric tools that need to provide more powerful power equipment, while energy storage lithium batteries are mainly used for civil or military and police power auxiliary services. , Peak shaving and frequency modulation or renewable energy grid-connected and micro-grid fields.   Due to different application scenarios, battery performance requirements are also different. First of all, as a mobile power supply, the power lithium battery has as high a requirement as possible for the volume (and mass) energy density under the premise of safety, in order to achieve reliable power and longer endurance. At the same time, users also hope that electric vehicles can be safely and quickly charged. Therefore, power lithium batteries have higher requirements for energy density and power density. It is only because of safety considerations that energy-type batteries with a charge and discharge capacity of about 1C are generally used.  Most energy storage devices do not need to be moved, so energy storage lithium batteries have no direct requirements for energy density. As for power density, different energy storage scenarios have different requirements. Chen Yongchong, head of the Energy Storage Technology Research Group of the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, once pointed out that for power peak shaving, off-grid photovoltaic energy storage or user-side peak-to-valley energy storage scenarios, the energy storage battery generally needs to be continuously charged or continuously discharged for more than two hours Therefore, it is suitable to use capacity batteries with charge and discharge rate ≤0.5C; for energy storage scenarios where power frequency modulation or smooth renewable energy fluctuations, the energy storage battery needs to be quickly charged and discharged in the second to minute time period, so it is suitable for ≥2C The application of power battery; and in some application scenarios that need to undertake both frequency modulation and peak shaving, energy battery will be more suitable. Of course, power and capacity batteries can also be used together in this scenario.  Secondly, compared to power lithium batteries, energy storage lithium batteries have higher requirements for calendar life. The lifespan of new energy vehicles is generally 5-8 years, while the lifespan of energy storage projects is generally expected to be greater than 10 years. The cycle life of the power lithium battery is 1000-2000 times, and the cycle life of the energy storage lithium battery is generally required to be greater than 3,500 times, and it is hoped that through the development of new operation and maintenance regeneration technologies, to achieve an ultra-long energy storage life. However, the actual situation is that the longest cycle life of the current lithium battery technology is still 1000-2000 times. Due to the subtle changes in the internal resistance of the monomer caused by environmental factors, each charge will cause a slight pressure difference on the battery. If things go on like this, a certain part of the battery cells will eventually end their lifespan early. The charge and discharge management of the battery pack has always been a technically difficult problem, whether it is active balance management or triggered battery pack balance management. Neither can completely solve the problem of battery pack balance. Therefore, the development of lithium batteries still has a long way to go.
