Now UPS power supplies are usually made with two types of batteries, one is a lithium battery and the other is a lead-acid battery. Due to the rapid development of lithium battery technology, lighter and smaller lithium batteries are also sought after in UPS, and many data centers have begun to use lithium battery UPS as a solution. However, lithium battery manufacturers believe that the popularization of UPS lithium batteries is still difficult. Lithium battery UPS has many advantages, as follows: ●Small size and lighter weight. The volume is 2/3 of the volume of a lead-acid battery, and the weight is about 1/3 of the weight of a lead-acid battery. The capacity density is higher. ●Long life: Longer service life, generally about 4 to 5 years, while lead-acid batteries are generally about 2 years. ●High temperature performance: The thermal peak of lithium iron phosphate battery can reach 350~500℃. ●Fast charging: High current 2C can be charged and discharged quickly, and the battery can be fully charged within 40 minutes of 1.5C charging under a dedicated charger. ●Safe and reliable: Lithium iron phosphate has passed strict safety tests and will not explode even in severe collisions. ●Environmental protection: In line with European RoHS regulations, it is more environmentally friendly than lead-acid batteries. ●No memory effect: It can be used with the punch, no need to put it fully and then charge it. Difficulties in the application of lithium batteries to UPS: 1. The cost design threshold of lithium battery UPS power supply is high. Due to the different characteristics of lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries, the charging curves and circuits are different, and the charging equipment varies with different brands of lithium battery UPS with different specifications. It is different, so when the old UPS uses the client to replace the battery every year, it is very difficult to achieve from the cost and technical considerations to directly replace the lead-acid battery with the lithium battery UPS. 2. The more difficult point is that the lead-acid battery has a voltage of 12V, and the electric capacity ranges from 7AH to 70AH. The power demand of the computer room ranges from 100AH u200bu200bto 500AH or higher. Lead-acid batteries are stacked in series and parallel according to demand. However, the lithium battery pack has a protection board (Battery Management System referred to as BMS) that controls overcharge and overdischarge. Therefore, if the lithium battery is now stored in a lead-acid battery mode with a voltage and capacity (say 48V, 30AH) and then stacked in parallel according to the power demand of each computer room, it will happen between each battery pack BMS , Because each battery pack has different voltage and power, it will produce protection when charging or discharging, and it cannot be used. Third, the needs of each customer are very different. If the lithium battery UPS manufacturer cannot standardize mass production, each battery needs to be customized, and the relative cost and price will be high, which is prohibitive. How to use lithium battery UPS correctly? 1. The ambient temperature of the battery must be kept at a suitable temperature for normal operation of the battery. For general batteries, the temperature of the environment should be kept between 20-25 degrees Celsius and a constant temperature environment. Dismissal of get out of class slows down the aging rate of lithium batteries. Second, regular inspections should be carried out. Regularly check the terminal voltage and internal resistance of each unit battery. Find abnormal situations in time and deal with them. 3. Under certain conditions, it needs to be re-floated. The UPS power supply has been in a floating charge state for a long time without a discharge process, which is equivalent to being in a 'storage standby' state. If this state lasts for too long, the lithium battery will become invalid due to'storage for too long'. It is mainly manifested as an increase in the internal resistance of the battery, which can reach several Ω in severe cases. Four. Need to reduce deep discharge The characteristics of lithium batteries do not allow excessive discharge. Too deep discharge will aggravate the imbalance between the cells. Affect the comprehensive service life. When you hear a periodic alarm that sounds once every 4 seconds in the interval, it is generally to inform the user that the battery is now providing energy. When the alarm sound becomes rapid, it means that the power supply has been deeply discharged, and emergency treatment should be carried out immediately, and the lithium battery UPS power supply should be turned off. It is not imperative. Generally, do not let the lithium battery UPS power supply work until the automatic shutdown due to low battery voltage is over.
