What is the influence of temperature environment on polymer lithium battery

by:Vglory      2021-05-01
Temperature has the greatest impact on the charge and discharge performance of polymer batteries. The electrochemical reaction at the electrode/electrolyte interface is related to the ambient temperature. The electrode/electrolyte interface is regarded as the heart of the polymer battery. If the temperature drops, the reaction rate of the electrodes will also decrease: assuming that the voltage of the polymer battery remains constant, the discharge current decreases. Then the power output of the polymer battery will also decrease. If the temperature rises, the opposite is true. That is, the output power of the polymer battery will rise. Temperature also affects the transfer speed of the electrolyte, the temperature rises faster, and the temperature drops slower: the charge and discharge performance of polymer batteries will also be affected. But the temperature is too high. It will destroy the chemical balance in the polymer battery. After the battery is assembled and injected, it will be charged and activated once. We call it formation. The specified temperature of formation is 45±5℃. After the formation, after standing for a period of time, the capacity will be detected, that is, the battery will be charged. The specified temperature for capacity detection is 35±5°C. The storage temperature of the battery is generally 25±5°C at room temperature. The temperature will affect the activity of lithium ions. The higher the temperature, the higher the activity. However, if the temperature exceeds 60°C, it may cause irreversible damage to the separator inside the polymer battery. Cause the battery to be scrapped. If the temperature is too low, the lithium ion activity will be too low, resulting in the battery capacity can not be released, that is, no electricity. In the winter in the north, this is why the indoor phone with a full battery charge can't get out when the phone arrives outdoors. But this will recover as long as it returns to normal temperature, and the impact on the battery is not great. When the battery is used at 35℃, the capacity is relatively high, and the temperature rises again, the impact on the capacity is relatively small, and the temperature over 60℃ may damage the battery, thereby affecting the battery life. If the temperature is too low, the capacity will be lower, that is, some electricity will not be released. In general, the capacity difference of the battery during normal use is not too big. Take the lithium iron phosphate battery as an example. The capacity at 20°C is only about 0.95% lower than the capacity at 45°C, which is less than 1. %.
