What are the classifications of UPS batteries?

by:Vglory      2021-05-12
UPS battery classification UPS battery, as an important part of the uninterruptible power supply UPS system, has many specifications like the UPS host. Users need to choose the appropriate UPS battery according to their own needs and application environment. Here are the types of UPS batteries for everyone. Commonly used UPS batteries can be divided into lead-acid batteries, gel batteries, lithium batteries and so on. 1. Lead-acid battery The currently commonly used lead-acid battery is a valve-regulated lead-acid maintenance-free battery. The electrolyte is mainly composed of lead and sulfuric acid. It is characterized by not adding water or acid during use, with good sealing performance and relatively small volume. UPS battery use is cost-effective. In addition to maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, there are also open-type liquid lead-acid batteries. The specific gravity should be measured regularly, and water and acid should be added. If such batteries are used, anti-corrosion bricks should be laid in the installation environment. 2. Gel battery Gel battery is another commonly used battery type of UPS battery. Its electrolyte is in a gel state and is called gel battery. The design life of gel battery is longer than that of ordinary lead-acid battery, and its performance is more stable. Therefore, the price is relatively high. 3. Nickel-chromium battery This type of UPS battery is different from the lead-acid battery. Hydrogen and oxygen occur during electrolysis without corrosive gas, so it can be installed next to electronic equipment. In addition, water consumption is very small, and maintenance is generally not required. The normal life span is 20-25 years. Far more expensive than the aforementioned batteries. The initial installation cost is about three times that of lead-acid batteries. It will not affect battery life due to high ambient temperature, nor will it affect battery capacity due to low ambient temperature. Generally, the voltage of each cell is 1.2v, and UPS needs to design a higher charger voltage because of the application of such batteries.
