What are the characteristics of the new lithium battery management system technology

by:Vglory      2021-04-22
The new battery technology has the following characteristics: 1. Through temperature calibration technology, it reacts to the temperature changes of the operating equipment. The electrochemical impedance of lithium batteries is very sensitive to temperature changes. Therefore, when using a dedicated measuring instrument for measurement in the laboratory, the battery should be placed in a constant temperature room to maintain a constant temperature. Regarding the battery module during operation, due to the continuous change of the ambient temperature, stable electrochemical impedance measurement cannot be performed on it. Therefore, Ritsumeikan University in Japan and Panasonic Corporation have developed a temperature correction technology. During the electrochemical impedance measurement process, the temperature of the lithium battery is measured, the impedance temperature change is corrected to the standard temperature, and it is plotted on the Cole-Cole diagram. In this way, even if the ambient temperature changes as the season and time alternate, it can be corrected to the standard temperature in the database based on the Cole-Cole diagram. 2. Measure the electrochemical impedance of multi-cell battery packs through BMIC technology. A traditional BMIC can measure the voltage of a lithium battery pack composed of 6 to 14 cells stacked. In the battery management system, multiple BMICs can be used to obtain voltage data from more battery cells in series (up to 200) to monitor the battery operating status and ensure safe use. In addition, you can also evaluate the charging and health status, and calculate the remaining cruising range and time. In addition to traditional functions, the newly developed BMIC detection chip also has a built-in electrochemical impedance measurement function, which uses the AC excitation method for measurement. The electrochemical impedance measurement is realized by 15 fully parallel analog/digital converters, a pulse modulated AC excitation circuit from 0.1 Hz to 5khz, and a complex voltage/complex current conversion circuit built into the BMIC. Therefore, the BMIC chip can measure the electrochemical impedance of the battery during operation, without major adjustments to the current BMS configuration in the battery. 3. When performing electrochemical impedance measurement, it can achieve the same measurement accuracy as the standard instrument. By measuring the Cole-Cole diagram drawn with complex impedance, the state is evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Ritsumeikan University used BMIC and measurement software developed by Panasonic Corporation to measure cylindrical lithium batteries. The result stated that the Cole-Cole diagram can be measured and drawn in the frequency range of 1Hz to 5KHz, and achieves the same accuracy as industrial standard measuring instruments.
