Introduction to the classification of hydrogen-oxygen fuel power batteries

Hydrogen-oxygen fuel power batteries are divided into three types: ion membrane, bacon type and asbestos membrane according to battery structure and operation mode. 1. Ion-membrane hydrogen-oxygen fuel power battery uses cation exchange membrane as electrolyte for acidic fuel power battery, modern use perfluorosulfonic acid membrane. When the battery is discharged, water is generated at the oxygen electrode, and the water is sucked out through the wick. This kind of battery operates at room temperature, has a compact structure, and is light in weight, but the internal resistance of the ion exchange membrane is relatively large, and the discharge current density is small. 2. Bacon-type fuel power batteries are alkaline batteries. The hydrogen and oxygen electrodes are both double-layer porous nickel electrodes (the inner and outer layers have different pore diameters), and platinum is added as a catalyst. The electrolyte is 80%-85% caustic potassium solution, which is solid at room temperature and liquid at the battery operating temperature (204~260C). This kind of battery has a high energy usage rate, but has a large self-consumption, and it takes a long time to start and stop (24 hours for starting and 17 hours for stopping). 3. Asbestos membrane fuel power batteries are also alkaline batteries. The hydrogen electrode is made of porous nickel sheet plus platinum and palladium catalysts. The oxygen electrode is a porous silver electrode sheet. The two electrodes are sandwiched with asbestos membranes containing 35% caustic potassium solution. The flow device constitutes a gas chamber and is encapsulated into a single battery. When discharging, water is generated on the side of the hydrogen electrode, which can be discharged by circulating hydrogen, or by static drainage. The starting time of this battery is only 15 minutes, and it can be shut down instantly. It is more environmentally friendly than lithium iron phosphate batteries.
