Perhaps many people will find such a situation, when the electric vehicle battery is charging, the battery shell will find that the battery shell is very hot. However, many people think this is a normal thing. Whether the battery is in use or charging, small heating is allowed, but abnormal heating is not allowed. When you touch the battery casing with your hand and you can feel very hot, it means that the battery is abnormally hot. In this case, everyone must not ignore it, because abnormal heat of the battery is very harmful.   Heat will first evaporate the electrolyte moisture and gradually dry out, then the charging efficiency will be reduced, the electrode plate will be deformed, the internal resistance will increase, the oxidation of mechanical parts will be accelerated, and the electrode plate or separator will be burned out. Finally, the battery capacity will be reduced and the life span will be shortened. Therefore, if you find that the battery heats up abnormally during use or charging, you must not ignore it.   There are two main types of battery heating: one is heating when the battery is discharged, that is, the battery is abnormally heating during use; the other is that the battery is heating when charging. The causes of abnormal heating of the battery are also different in different situations.  1. Reasons for battery discharge heat: Discharge too fast, it may be because the battery capacity is small, and the discharge current exceeds 0.5C for a long time. It is emphasized here that although the battery consumes a certain amount of power after a short-distance driving, after a standstill, the battery has a recovery process, and the electrochemical process of the plate continues, so the voltage will rise, but it does not mean that the capacity will rise; On the contrary, when driving for long distances without stopping on the road, the electrochemical effect of the plates and the consumption of electric energy are carried out at the same time, there will be three situations:   ①When the rated voltage of the motor is low, the battery capacity is small, and the working current is too large, the voltage will drop sharply. , The capacity is quickly exhausted, which is the most unfavorable for the battery.  ②The electrochemical reaction speed of the battery can only maintain driving, and the battery has no chance of recovery and breathing. It is often charged and discharged in a full cycle, and it will be over-consumed if you don't pay attention to it. When facing uphill or windward, the power consumption is very large, forcing the battery plate to react sharply, and the heat of the battery shell is higher, which will damage the battery and shorten the life span, indicating that the capacity is not surplus.  ③ It is ideal that the electrochemical reaction rate of the battery can calmly supply enough electric energy. The outer shell of the battery has no abnormal heat, indicating that the battery capacity is surplus.  Only the last of the three situations is ideal for long-distance driving. It should be noted that the battery shell is obviously hot, and the internal battery itself becomes even hotter.   Second, the reason for the heating of the battery: during the charging process of the battery, part of the electrical energy is converted into chemical energy, and part of it is converted into heat energy and other energy. It is normal for the rechargeable battery to generate heat, but when the temperature is high, check whether the charging current is too large or there is a short circuit inside the battery.  The heat generation has a small relationship with the amount of electrolyte. If the amount of electrolyte in a sealed battery is small, the internal resistance will increase, which will also cause the battery to heat up and the terminal voltage will be high during charging. The aging of the battery, the drying of the electrolyte, and the short circuit inside can also cause heat generation. The charger cannot keep constant voltage in the later stage of charging, so that the battery voltage will exceed the allowable value, the temperature will rise, and the serious will swell, and the life will end.  During use, try not to lay it horizontally or upside down to prevent a large amount of gas inside the battery from being discharged from the bleed valve smoothly, especially when charging, otherwise it may cause the shell to burst.   In short, if the battery has abnormal heating, it must not be ignored, and the battery should be repaired and maintained at a professional repair and maintenance shop as soon as possible.
