A fuel power cell is a chemical device that directly converts the chemical energy of fuel into electrical energy, and is also called an electrochemical generator. It is based on the electrochemical principle, that is, the working principle of the primary battery, which stores chemical energy in the fuel and oxidant at an isothermal temperature and directly converts it into electrical energy, so the actual process is a redox reaction. The fuel power battery is mainly composed of three parts: an electrode, an electrolyte and an external circuit. Fuel power battery electrodes are electrochemical reaction sites for fuel oxidation and redox reactions. The electrode is mainly composed of an anode and a cathode, with a thickness of 200-500mm. Its structure is different from the flat electrodes of ordinary batteries, and it is porous. The electrolyte plays a role in the transfer of ions and the separation of fuel gas and oxidizing gas. In order to prevent the mixing of these two gases from causing a short circuit in the battery, the electrolyte usually has a good structure. The external circuit is generally composed of a bipolar plate, which has the functions of collecting electricity, separating oxidant and reducing agent, and guiding reaction gas. Its function mainly depends on its material characteristics, flow field planning and production process. Common fuel power cells can be divided into proton exchange membrane fuel power cells (PEMFC), solid oxide fuel power cells (SOFC), molten carbonate fuel power cells (MCFC), phosphoric acid fuel power cells (PAFC) and Alkaline fuel power cell (AFC). The Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Power Cell (PEMFC) has a variety of functional advantages such as low operating temperature and fast start-up speed. It is currently a relatively mature and extensive fuel power cell, and it is in a leading position in global shipments and megawatt shipments. . The important fuels for fuel power cells are hydrogen, methanol and other hydrocarbons. Disclaimer: Some pictures and content of articles published on this site are from the Internet.
