Analysis of the characteristics and use methods of hydrogen fuel power cells

by:Vglory      2021-05-09
The hydrogen-oxygen fuel power battery uses hydrogen as the fuel as the reductant and oxygen as the oxidant. Through the combustion reaction of the fuel, the battery converts chemical energy into electrical energy. The working principle is the same as that of the original battery. When the oxyhydrogen fuel power cell is working, it supplies hydrogen to the hydrogen electrode and at the same time supplies oxygen to the oxygen electrode. Hydrogen and oxygen are used as catalysts on the electrodes to generate water through the electrolyte. At this time, there are excess electrons on the hydrogen electrode and negatively charged, and the oxygen electrode is positively charged due to lack of electrons. After turning on the circuit, this reaction process similar to combustion can continue. During operation, fuel (hydrogen) is supplied to the negative electrode and oxidant (oxygen) is supplied to the positive electrode. Hydrogen is analyzed into positive ion H+ and electron e- under the use of the catalyst on the negative electrode. Hydrogen ions enter the electrolyte, while electrons move to the positive electrode along the external circuit. The electric load is connected to the external circuit. On the positive electrode, oxygen and hydrogen ions in the electrolyte absorb the electrons that reach the positive electrode to form water. This is the reverse process of the electrolysis reaction of water. The hydrogen-oxygen fuel power battery is a device that does not store all the reducing agent and oxidant in the battery. The reactants of the hydrogen-oxygen fuel power battery are all outside the battery, it only supplies a reaction vessel, and both hydrogen and oxygen can be supplied from outside the battery. Fuel power battery is a kind of chemical battery, which uses the energy released when the substance undergoes chemical reaction to directly convert it into electrical energy. From this point of view, it is similar to other chemical batteries such as zinc-manganese dry batteries and accumulators. However, when it is working, it must continue to supply reactant materials, fuel and oxidant, which is different from other general chemical batteries. Because it converts the energy released by the fuel through a chemical reaction into electrical energy output, it is called a fuel power cell. In detail, a fuel power cell is a generator that uses the reverse reaction of the electrolysis of water. It consists of a positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte plate sandwiched between the positive and negative electrodes. Initially, the electrolyte plate was formed by using electrolyte infiltrated into a porous plate. In 2013, it was developed to use a solid electrolyte. During operation, fuel (hydrogen) is supplied to the negative electrode, and oxidant (air, the active ingredient is oxygen) is supplied to the positive electrode. Hydrogen is analyzed into positive ion H+ and electron e- in the negative electrode. When hydrogen ions enter the electrolyte, the electrons move to the positive electrode along the external circuit. The electric load is connected to the external circuit. On the positive electrode, the oxygen in the air and the hydrogen ions in the electrolyte absorb the electrons that reach the positive electrode to form water. This is the reverse process of the electrolysis reaction of water. In this process, water can be reused, and the principle of power generation is similar to that of solar cells that can be used at night.
