Analysis of six charging methods for UPS batteries

by:Vglory      2021-04-28
There are six charging methods for UPS batteries: 1. Constant current charging: Constant current charging is a segmented constant current charging method. This is usually achieved by adjusting the charging device itself. The charging current can be selected and adjusted arbitrarily, with strong adaptability, especially suitable for long-term charging with small current, and also beneficial to the capacity recovery of the battery slowly charging. 2. Constant voltage charging: Constant voltage charging means that each single battery is charged with a stable voltage (usually the single battery is multiplied by 2.5V). Its characteristics are: the initial charging current is quite large, the electromotive force of the battery and the relative density of the electrolyte rise rapidly, as the charging continues, the charging current gradually decreases, and only a small current passes through the charging terminal: charging time is short and energy consumption is low. 3. Fast charging: Fast charging refers to a high-current charging method. Fast charging will not produce a large number of bubbles or heat, thus shortening the charging time. At present, the commonly used fast charging methods include pulse charging and large current deceleration fast pulse. 4. Equalization charging: Equalization charging is a small current charging process of 1-3h (1/20c20a). First of all, it is used to eliminate a group of floating charging work (the method of DC power supply and battery line parallel operation) batteries in the same working condition, because of some reasons the whole battery is unbalanced, different, in order to achieve the balance of the whole battery. 5. Current-limiting and constant-voltage charging: Current-limiting and constant-voltage charging is mainly used to compensate for the shortcomings of excessive charging current during constant-voltage charging (the method is the same as that of constant-voltage charging). The charging current is automatically adjusted by the series resistance (current limiting resistance) between the charging power supply and the rechargeable battery. 6. Smart charging: Smart charging is a more advanced charging method. The principle is to dynamically track the acceptable charging current of the battery during the entire charging process. Use du/dt skills, that is, the charging power source automatically determines the charging process parameters according to the battery condition, so the charging current adheres to the battery rechargeable battery curve from beginning to end, insists that the battery is charged with almost no gas separation, and then maintains the UPS battery.
