Analysis of parallel charging methods for lithium batteries

The purpose of paralleling lithium batteries is to increase capacity. Therefore, parallel charging of lithium batteries also has different design features compared with single-cell lithium batteries. The current charging current design and the consistency of parallel batteries are important. When lithium batteries are charged in parallel, each lithium battery should be balanced and charged, otherwise the performance and life of the entire group of lithium batteries will be affected during use. Commonly used equalization charging techniques include: constant shunt resistance equalization charging, on-off shunt resistance equalization charging, uniform battery voltage equalization charging, switched capacitor equalization charging, step-down converter equalization charging, inductance equalization charging, etc. There are several issues to pay attention to when charging lithium batteries in parallel: 1. Lithium batteries with and without protection boards cannot be charged in parallel. A battery without a protective plate is easily damaged by overcharge. 2. For batteries that are charged in parallel, the protection board that comes with the battery is usually removed, and a battery protection board is used uniformly. 3. If there is no lithium battery protection board for batteries charged in parallel, the charging voltage must be limited to 4.2V, and 5V chargers cannot be used. After the lithium batteries are connected in parallel, there will be a charging protection chip to protect the lithium batteries. When making parallel lithium batteries, lithium battery manufacturers have fully considered the changing characteristics of lithium batteries after parallel connection, and they also carry out current design and cell selection according to the above requirements. Therefore, the user should follow the instructions of parallel lithium batteries to charge step by step, and beware of the possible damage to the battery caused by incorrect charging.
