Analysis of metal hydride nickel-metal hydride batteries The metal part of nickel-hydrogen batteries is actually a metal compound. Many metal compounds have been used to make nickel metal hydride batteries. The most common type is AB5, where A is a mixture of rare earth elements (possibly) and titanium (Ti); B is nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), manganese (Mn) and (possibly) aluminum (Al). The multi-component electrodes of some large-capacity batteries are mainly composed of AB2, where A is titanium (Ti) or vanadium (V), B is zirconium (Zr) or nickel (Ni), plus some chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co) ), iron (Fe) and/or manganese (Mn). [1] All these compounds serve the same purpose: reversibly form metal hydrides. When the battery is charged, the hydrogen ions (H+) in the potassium hydroxide (KOH) electrolyte are released and absorbed by these compounds, preventing the formation of hydrogen (H2) to maintain the pressure and volume inside the battery. When the battery is discharged, the hydrogen ions return to their original positions through the reverse process. 1. Weight. On the voltage of each battery, the voltage of Ni-MH and Ni-MH is 1.2v, while the voltage of the lithium battery is 3.6v, which is 3 times the voltage of the other two batteries. The weight of the same type of battery is almost equal to that of a nickel-cadmium battery, while a nickel-metal hydride battery is heavier. It can know that the weight of each battery is different, but due to the high voltage of lithium battery 3.6v, a battery in time can be reduced by one-third when the output voltage is equal, so the weight and volume of the battery can be reduced. Second, the recall effect Ni-MH batteries have the same recall effect as nickel-cadmium batteries, but are much smaller than nickel-cadmium batteries and much larger than lithium batteries. There is no need to discharge before each charge (the battery may be damaged due to irregular discharge), and a thorough charge and discharge every 3 months can alleviate the recall effect (in fact, the recall effect is not obvious, and people who are not concerned can ignore it). Regarding lithium batteries, because they have almost no recall effect, they are very convenient and simple to use. It does not need to answer how much remaining voltage is, it can be charged directly, and the charging time can naturally be shortened. The self-discharge rate of nickel-cadmium batteries ranges from 15% to 30% (months). Ni-MH battery is 25~35% (month), and lithium battery is 2~5% (month). The above-mentioned nickel-metal hydride battery has the highest self-discharge rate, while the specific discharge rate of two batteries such as lithium battery is very low. 4. Charging method Ni-MH batteries and lithium batteries cannot withstand overcharging. Therefore, the cutting control method of constant current charging of Ni-MH battery is the best charging method. For lithium batteries, it is best to use constant current and constant voltage charging methods. If the nickel-cadmium battery charger-DV control method is used to charge the nickel-metal hydride batteries and lithium batteries.
