A brief introduction to fuel-powered battery vehicles

A fuel-powered battery vehicle is a vehicle that uses electricity from the on-board fuel-powered battery device as its power. The fuel used in the on-board fuel power cell device is high-purity hydrogen or high-hydrogen reformed gas obtained by reforming hydrogen-containing fuel. Compared with ordinary electric vehicles, the difference in power is that the electric power used by the FCV comes from the on-board fuel power cell device, and the electric power used by the electric vehicle comes from the storage battery charged by the grid. Therefore, the key to FCV is the fuel power cell. Fuel power cell is a high-efficiency power generation device that does not burn fuel but directly converts the chemical energy of fuel into electrical energy by way of electrochemical reaction. The basic principle of power generation is: the anode (fuel electrode) of the battery inputs hydrogen (fuel), hydrogen molecules (H2) are dissociated into hydrogen ions (H+) and electrons (e-) under the use of anode catalyst, and H+ passes through the fuel power cell The electrolyte layer moves in the direction of the cathode (oxidation electrode), e- flows to the cathode from an external circuit because it cannot pass through the electrolyte layer; oxygen (O2) is input at the cathode of the battery, and the oxygen is dissociated into oxygen atoms (O) under the use of the cathode catalyst. It combines with e- flowing to the cathode through an external circuit and H+ from the fuel passing through the electrolyte to generate a stable structure of water (H2O), which completes the electrochemical reaction and releases heat. This electrochemical reaction is completely different from the violent combustion reaction of hydrogen in oxygen. As long as the anode continuously inputs hydrogen and the cathode continuously inputs oxygen, the electrochemical reaction will continue continuously, and e- will continue to pass through the external circuit. It flows to form an electric current, thereby continuously supplying electric power to the car. It is also completely different from the traditional electric conductor cutting the magnetic field line of the rotary mechanical power generation principle. This electrochemical reaction belongs to a static power generation method in which electricity is obtained without the movement of objects. Therefore, the fuel power cell has the advantages of high efficiency, low noise, and no pollutant emission, which ensures that the FCV becomes a real high-efficiency and clean car.
